What is Accelerated Orthodontics™ and the Cosmetic Smile Makeover?

3-MSM™ and 6-MSM™ are our trademarked versions of a cosmetic makeover system created as an alternative to veneering your teeth or long term orthodontic treatment. It consists of specialized systems of accelerated orthodontic tooth movement, teeth reshaping and teeth whitening.

How is this Different than a Conventional Porcelain Veneer Makeover?

People have a misconception that veneers are easy and quick: two short visits, no discomfort, simple, easy and worry-free. The reality is that veneers take multiple visits over a period of months, with needles and anesthesia. You need to wear plastic or acrylic temporary teeth while the veneers are being made. Often the shade is not quite right and they need to be remade (unless you are veneering all of your teeth–very expensive!) requiring more time in the temporaries. On top of this you need to watch what you eat forever! You can be a dinner party and all of a sudden your front veneer comes off and you need to excuse yourself and leave the party! Who is a Candidate for this Treatment?

Anyone who would like to look better, save money, save time and avoid aggressive treatment is a candidate. Although certainly not appropriate for everyone, the majority of patients desiring a smile makeover are excellent candidates.

Is the Treatment Affordable?

Yes! Not only is the treatment affordable, it is only a fraction of the cost of placing veneers on the teeth. These saving multiply over time, because this makeover uses your own natural teeth; veneers need to be replaced from time to time at additional expense.

How can it be done in 3-6 months?

Does the System use High Forces to Move the Teeth?

No. Actually the 3 Month Smile Makeover™ and 6 Month Smile Makeover™ Systems use a low force-high resolution technique. You might think that braces need to be tightened more to get the teeth moving. Research has shown that this actually slows down tooth movement. To reiterate, both the 3 Month Smile Makeover™ and 6 Month Smile Makeover™ are low force techniques.

Does the Treatment Damage the Teeth, Roots, or Gums in any way?

No! The causes for the above complications are individual biology and high forces over a long period of time. 3-MSM™ and 6-MSM™ Systems uses very low force with a short treatment duration to safely move the teeth.

Is the Treatment Painful?

No! Pain is caused by high forces. 3-MSM™ and 6-MSM™ Systems use low forces to move the teeth, not high forces that cause pain. This treatment is more comfortable than porcelain veneers. No anesthesia is needed.

Do I Need to Wear Braces for my Smile Makeover?

Not necessarily. Depending on your preferences, we have metal, clear and a braceless system. We can also use lingual braces which are placed behind your teeth so no one can see them.

Do you ever extract teeth with the Smile Makeover?

We very rarely extract teeth using the 3 Month Smile Makeover™ and 6 Month Smile Makeover™ Systems.
