Frequently Asked Questions
HOW MUCH DO BRACES COST?
Fees for orthodontic treatment are determined by many factors including; severity of the case, anticipated length of treatment, and the type of appliances necessary. At your first appointment, you will learn what treatment is required, how long it will take and how much it will cost.
DO YOU CHARGE FOR AN INITIAL VISIT?
There is no charge for your examination. At this time, Dr. Newhart will examine you and inform you if treatment is indicated. Dr. Newhart and a treatment coordinator will discuss your treatment plan and financial options.
DO YOU HAVE SATURDAY OR EVENING HOURS?
Yes, we offer a variety of flexible appointment times to accommodate the busy schedules of our patients. Throughout the year we offer early morning and early evening appointments.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WEAR BRACES?
This is dependent upon each case and you will be given an estimate of anticipated treatment at your initial examination. Length of treatment is usually less than people expect.
I HAVE DENTAL INSURANCE. IS YOUR OFFICE A PROVIDER FOR MY PLAN?
Newhart Orthodontics is a provider for all Insurance plans. Unlike most offices we deal with your insurance company for you. We accept their payments directly and we bill the insurance company for you. This eliminates the stress of dealing with insurance companies as well as your costs.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE A LARGE DOWN PAYMENT?
No! We offer a variety of payment plans to our patients including one with no down payment and low monthly payments, all with no interest charge.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept cash, check, visa, mastercard, american express, and discover card. We offer automatic bank draft or credit card deductions for your convenience. We can work with you using your credit union, home equity loan, or tax-free spending plan to obtain funds for treatment.
DO YOU OFFER EXTENDED PAYMENT PLANS?
We can work with you to extend your payments up to 5-7 years with low monthly payments.
AT WHAT AGE SHOULD MY CHILD BE EXAMINED?
Dr. Newhart recommends that all children have an orthodontic screening no later than age 3. Your child will be seen by Dr. Newhart at 6 month intervals to monitor changes produced by growth.
This prevention oriented approach leads to more comfortable, shorter and more effective treatment of your child. There is no charge for this service.
HOW OFTEN WILL I HAVE TO COME TO THE OFFICE?
Generally, we see our active orthodontic patients every twelve weeks. Dr. Newhart's proprietary use of "Time-Release Archwires" allows more comfortable treatment, shorter treatment times and fewer office visits. Fewer office visits have the benefit of less lost time at school or work. This also allows many of our patients to live outside of California and the country.
SHOULD I CONTINUE TO SEE MY FAMILY DENTIST WHILE IN BRACES?
Definitely! It's very important to continue your regular dental check-ups to prevent and detect dental decay, and to monitor the health of the supporting structures.
HOW ARE INSTRUMENTS STERILIZED?
Our office provides the highest standards of sterilization and asepsis. We perform each procedure in a way that ensures the safety of patients and staff.
CAN I CHANGE LOCATIONS AFTER I BEGIN TREATMENT?
Yes. The five office locations are there by patient request and for patient convenience. People change jobs and children change schools. We always have a location near you and we always have your personal file with us because of our networked computer and telephone system. Dr. Newhart has access to every patient's file at every location at any time...24/7.
