Fixed Retainers
On certain occasions, Dr. Newhart may suggest fixed retainers for the front teeth. These retainers are attached to the back surface of the incisors to keep them in place. While fixed retainers are effective, they can pose challenges to maintaining optimal oral hygiene. Flossing becomes more intricate, requiring the use of super floss or a floss threader to clean each tooth. This process demands extra time and skill. Therefore, fixed retainers are not typically recommended for long-term use.
