Temporary Anchorage Devices – Micro Implants
TADs, short for Orthodontic Temporary Anchorage Devices, are tiny micro-implants that are temporarily attached to the bone to facilitate challenging tooth movement. They offer various benefits, such as reducing treatment time, simplifying orthodontic procedures, improving results, and providing an alternative to surgical correction or implants.
Dr. Newhart utilizes advanced techniques, including TADs, to achieve tooth movement that is impossible with traditional orthodontics alone.
Our office can treat many Invisalign cases that would not be eligible otherwise by incorporating TADs in conjunction with aligners.
The placement procedure for TADs is quick and painless, typically lasting 20-30 minutes under local anesthesia.
Once the orthodontic treatment is completed, the micro-implant can be easily removed in less than a minute, causing no discomfort.
